Xbox Deals with Gold

Is it just me or is Xbox getting really cheap with their deals? Right now the craze is to buy digital games. I'm all for it if there was a better price point. Instance regular price for Sleeping Dogs is 49.99, where in the retail world is it that much? Physical
copies range from 14.99-24.99 CDN and most places have loyalty rewards programs. PS4 offered a 10% discount for Doom to pre-order if you have their PS Plus. Call of Duty Black Ops 2 on the 360 is $ 20 on sale, but you can again get the physical for that price
or get it as a combo pack for a slight bit more. I am severely disappointed with the pricing structure and so called "deals". There was a point where a deal was worth talking about, but now its a joke. Also the exchange rate on a game... $29.99 US versus $
49.99 CDN. Enough said. Well this is 1 customer that is fed up and will be done with buying new games. "Deals with Gold" = Rip off for gold.

Apparently you missed the doom deal then much better then 10% off

You got the two original games free with preorders

No matter what you are going to find different deals they are all uniqur and it is actually upto the publishers to decide the price not xbox or psn marketplaces

Stores are a different story they set their prices not xbox or publishers they will take a loss on disks because it costs them shelf space thats not an issue with digital

 

I may have been incorrect on the publisher part of the deal. But let me run out on that deal for doom. I bought both of those games on the 360 on sale for less then $5 each. So the 10% off would have been a better deal for someone who has spent numerous
dollars on xbox games.

Now you mention stores are different. As someone who has worked for Best Buy and other stores who sold games, the margins are very tight. They do not discount the games to make them loss leaders. In the case of Sleeping Dogs, as mentioned earlier $24.99
CDN at Best Buy. How can it be justified by the publisher to sell it digitally for more.

One has to assume that there is more incentive to sell things digitally as you don't pay for packaging, shipping, marketing etc. I have no issues for paying fair market value for games, but when xbox and "publishers" are gauging the customers something has
to be said.

All new digital content should be sold on live for a minimum $10 different then the physical copy. For non US citizens current exchange rates should be implemented and American prices given to everyone. Let's use Mafia 3 as an example Gamestop EB Games as
the source, it's 59.99 US and 79.99 CDN. $20 price difference. Today's exchange rate is roughly 25%. The actual difference is close to 35% price difference.

A little while ago Assasins Creed was part of deals with gold. The first 1 has gone as low as $ 5 in the past, multiple times. Last time was $ 9.99. This was supposed to be a deal and because of its backward compatibility was appealing. But again go to EB
(which is always the highest priced place) was cheaper then their sale for a used item. You can find this title new for $ 10 at some retailers in their bargain bin!

All this thread is about is how the deals were better in the past and how the digital option is a joke, because you spend more and the price disparity between regions that Xbox should get off their cloud and help resolve...
