    Xbox Dead Zone

I've seen some silly answers to what appears to me to be a straight forward question so I'll start with some some primer.

Over time the analog sensors that detect the x and y position of a joystick on an Xbox One controller start to register an analog stick's neutral position as being slightly pressed in some direction. This could be due to wear on the sensor but it's usually wear on the springs that re-center the stick. Think of it like the "play" that develops in a steering wheel of a vehicle over the years. Often times, at least with older third party controllers, you could recalibrate your controller in software so that the driver knows that the small x and y values your controller sends to your computer should be interpreted as 0, i.e., you not touching your analog stick at all, thus compensating for the "play" that develops over time.

What can I do to increase the dead zone of my Xbox One controller on Windows 10 using software?

Is there some way of doing that in the Xbox app or at least some third party software that can do this?

I'd really appreciate a solution that's not get a new controller. Thanks.

    :)

Xbox controller drift, on an elite controller!?

For me, adjusting the dead zones worked. Go into the Xbox accessories app and increase the dead zone range. If you have to adjust it a lot to counter the drift, you can always increase the joystick sensitivity in game to counter the dead zone.

    My pains

The dead zone is an area in the middle where the wheel is considered to be not turning at all. If there was no dead zone, you would have to return the wheel to the EXACT center to stop your car from turning to either size; a dead zone lets you return it
to close to the middle. If the dead zone is too large, then you have to turn the wheel a lot before your car actually starts to turn.

How do I adjust the deadzone for my elite series 2 controller

This person clearly asked to adjust the dead zone and you gave a completely useless answer that does not affect the dead zone at all.

I'm not sure about a software myself that takes care of the analog issue, but I've always used most of my games in game settings to add a deadzone area to my sticks when they need it. Sorry if this didn't help.

You could try to clean the potentiometer first. Very easy to do, just be careful.

You could fix the analog stick with a new part. Hard if you don't know what you're doing. Also need to order new part. about .40c (each) on ebay.

Other tips, Steam does have a controller setup with an advanced menu for deadzone and what not, but that's only if you're playing games in Steam.

There is software you could try to just add a deadzone over your control (might work)
    Google "control mapper software".

Heads up, using a 3rd party mapper, might create issues in a game that already supports the controller (native). You might get double inputs or something like the game reads your controller as a mouse & keyboard.

    Hope this helps.

    The dead zone.

The Dead Zone only really feels to be an issue on some games...

COD Advanced Warfare feels the worst so far.

The Dead Zone on Destiny is very slight, and it's almost unnoticeable on Shadow of Mordor.

I'm a hugely competitive COD player but I can't complete with the current dead zone. It's really a huge issue.

    Please fix this
