Hi, so I have a HP Omen 32", which is a monitor that has 75Hz functionality. In the settings menu on my One X, I see the options for 60 or 120Hz. However, trying to enable 120 fails on my monitor for obvious reasons as it can not support a refresh that
high. So, I'm limited to 60Hz despite my hardware being more capable.

I've also seen this with people mentioning they have 1440p 120/144Hz monitors that only support freesync over HDMI at 100Hz or possibly some other value.

Is there are reason it's only 60Hz OR 120Hz? Can we not get support for the entire range? There is an entire range of hardware out there that can not be utilized because of this.

I spent $250 on my monitor and I'm looking at another ~$300 monitor that is 144Hz to support the upcoming functionality, but the thing is I'm perfectly happy with 75Hz. I wish I could just keep what I have and use it to its max potential.

I assume this might be something getting addressed with the new generation? I'm not sure how many people have actually spoke up questioning this though.

    :)

Xbox currently does not support monitors in the range of 61-119Hz. Will the Series S/X support this? Can The One X be Software Updated?

right, well that sucks a bit then, think microsoft could add it in as a range really as xbox one s supports upto 120 so anything under that should technically work.

I understand you're saying the VRR operates in a range. My monitor still displays it's refresh rate on it's menu independently of the Xbox. If it's receiving a 40hz or a 70 hz or a 90Hz it tells me.

If I'm on my PC and enable VRR my monitor display shows 1440p/75.

On the Xbox with VRR enabled it dispalys 1440p/60. This tells me the range is being limited from 48-60. It is not outputting a higher refresh of 75Hz in VRR. If it did my monitors signal would change.

EDIT: I found a reddit thread saying the same thing as well for the monitor: VG245. It has a 40-75Hz range, but confirmed only 40-60Hz works on Xbox.

you cant change refresh rate when vrr is enabled as the console is using variable refresh rate, if you get me, so you set at 60, you enable vrr then it ignores the 60 as you cannot change that or access that setting when vrr is enabled.

144hz is all good but really only runs over display port, 120 is over hdmi unless said hsmi is the new standard of 2.1.

the series s will only support 120 1440 and even then some of the games won't run at that high of a framerate.

if your monitor does have freesync, then enable this as it should run upto your monitors max refresh rate, as when VRR is enabled you cannot alter the refresh rate settings.

Yeah, just replying again because I went and tried this out. I used my monitors menu setting to view the current Hz and resolution being displayed.

Unfortunately, even with VRR on the monitor does not change from 60Hz to 75Hz. So, Xbox VRR does not support it, otherwise my monitors display setting would have changed. So, I'm still capped at 60Hz.
