You are asking to break section 1.9 of the Xbox LIVE Terms of Use agreement; an agreement that governs the policy of both consoles, Xbox.com, and Xbox LIVE. As you are asking such a thing official support (read: Xbox.com) may not assist you. I stated this
quite clearly. It is not an affront to you, your personage, your country, or any other bloody thing you deem it to be. It's simple fact.

Simply because a tradesperson is registered in the UK does not mean that person is Microsoft-certified for repairing their proprietary technology. Having a non-Microsoft-certified individual repairing the console is breech of contract and voids all official
support available to you. Microsoft officially ended legacy support of the original Xbox console four and a half years ago, as such there are no officially authorized individuals available to repair a console regardless of region.

I may be quite good at quoting the ToU, as you say, but that--sadly--is all I am allowed to do in this instance.

If you want to speak to a British individual you will have to phone your local support call center--the phone number can be reached
HERE--but, as I said, legacy support has ended and there is no one who can officially assist you in repairs.

Unfortunately, the official support for Xbox Original Consoles has ended. If you wish to speak directly with Support about it you can do so here but just to set expectations they will likely not be able to help with a repair.

If official support has ended and there is no warranty then there can be no TOU for the console to be contracted by. So all hogwash really. Constantly quoting the TOU does nothing but annoy the user and you only now give me a support number; which you should've
done instead of accusing me of breaking my TOU (which does not exist between me and microsoft as you have so proven) and opening the console. You spat in the face of common sense and continued to be rude to the point of using a poor man's swear word at me.

Aka scratch and Nvofusion were far more helpful and for that I thank them. You should take lessons from them if you want the Ambassador name you carry in your sig to carry any meaning.

@Nvo - we did have staples in the UK but I think they've gone bunk. Not sure. May I ask how a gas can clears dust and debris as I would imagine a blow upon such would cause it to go further into the vents?

I also have been getting error 16 now. I will try and call the UK number this week.

But if you do it at the right angle, you should be able to put it out of the fan area and the vent slits and either have it come out when the fans turn on or, do what I did. I usually use both a gas can and a vacuum, works every time. I just blow the dust
in the direction of the suction.

Actually the Terms of Use agreement still applies even if a product is no longer officially supported.

Even if hardware or software is no longer officially supported that doesn't mean that you can violate licensing agreements. Windows XP is no longer officially supported this does not mean that you can pirate the software and then go about and ask Microsoft
to explain to you why it's not working properly.

The original Xbox is still proprietary technology protected under a legally binding contract and as such any violations of the Terms of Use agreement can result in civil actions against your person.

Also, for what it's worth I didn't "down vote" anyone. There is also no "truth" to dislike nVo Fusion because dynastygal is wrong in her statement. Despite what you may think when constantly giving out improper "advice" this site is governed by the ToU
and CoC. As an Ambassador you should really familiarize yourself with these documents instead of attacking other Ambassadors in a public space and spreading lies and gossip about them.

I apologize for the trouble you have been having above..

To begin, you can not show line breaks because some people over-use them as spam.. pretty annoying I would think. I just use dots or hyphens to make my own line breaks.

First I would clean the Xbox Console with a gas can, like what they sell at Staples (not sure if the store is present in the United Kingdom), to clear the dust from the fans and circuit boards, possibly stopping it from overheating. Try it when it is cool
again, and make sure it is off and unplugged when doing this step.

if that doesn't help, you should call an Xbox Support Representative at the number it shows for your region

over here and talk to them about if they support consoles like yours, just mention that it has a crystal case. If they do not, I wouldn't bother with the next steps, and I apologize for the inconvenience.

If your console is supported, I would then go to
myservice.xbox.com and register the Console using the serial number which is located in the USB port slot and the back of the console, usually by the DC power input. The site will show if it is still in its warranty period or not.

If it is still in warranty, you can request a repair for free, and print out the free shipping label they give you to mail it in. If it is out of warranty, the prices are below.

Submitted online: $99 USD plus tax

Submitted over the phone: $119 USD plus tax

Select whatever your crystal most closely represents, and going by your error screen, it looks like the original.

I can not ensure you will get your crystal back, though. I am not sure if they actually repair it or if they send you a refurbished one, so beware.

Also, Microsoft support is better then this. I just noticed you said you did not expect it to be this bad, every community has a few very disrespectful people.. And we are not real Microsoft staff, we are all normal players, the only different is that I
am an Ambassador and I like to go a little more in-depth with the support then I need to, to help out a little more. If it is actual Xbox staff or Xbox Forum Staff, the Gamercard to the left of the post will say they are.
