Xbox Crystal Problem

This is a probably a long shot, but I purchased a second xbox crystal today and was told it worked. However, upon it booting up - just after the original xbox logo on the screen I get a message similar to the following:

The exact number on the top left corner I don't recall but I can check tomorrow and edit this post accordingly.

The console is very dusty inside; could this be causing it? If not, what should I do? I am from the UK.

Yep in the archives just run to the boss it only takes a min or so just be sure to kill the clams as they will follow you into the boss fight.

Like k0rruptiD said. No bonfire in the crystal cave itself - last bonfire before "exiting" the archives before entering the Crystal Cave.

On my first playthrough I also had to try Seath quite often but always killed all golems and shells, which earned me a good amount of souls and Twinkling Titanite!

 

Since you opened the console and violated the ToU official support cannot help you, sorry.

And? I can see the vents clearly since it is a crystal xbox. I don't need to open up the console to see how dusty it is. You made a brash assumption.

As for the error number - it is Error 09.

The console is obviously not dead. If it was dead it would not turn on at all. The error is listed here:

But I am not savvy with those sort of things so if someone would be so kind as to explain it, please.

 

As I already stated, unauthorized repairs are against the Terms of Usage agreement. Official support cannot help you.

 

You are very good at being a mouth piece for the Microsoft TOU but seem to have no ability to offer a viable alternative.

Instead of constantly repeating something why not give me some support - of which is the reason I came here in the first place. Or is support merely a place for those 'special' individuals to tell people what not to do instead of actually helping them?

And whoever keeps making your posts a 'suggested answer' clearly does not understand what support means.

I had heard rumours of Microsoft Support being awful but did not expect this. No wonder so many change 'allegiance'.

It isn't that ambassadors or official support do not want to help you, it is just that we cannot do so because the topics of unathorized repairs or modifications cannot be discussed on these forums as it is against the rules. This also applies to out of
warranty consoles or systems that are no longer supported.

 

That is incredibly silly. Surely they should suggest locations in the UK that LEGALLY repair xbox originals. A console is bound to run out of warranty eventually, especially if second hand. Are second hand xbox 360 owners not allowed support either? If I
were them I would be giving the user asking for support a legible phone number or support email to either the higher ups or UK support. As it is the support contact us are all American on this site even though this is supposed to be the UK site?

Tell me exactly how a repair by a registered tradesperson is unauthorised.

To begin, you can not show line breaks because some people over-use them as spam.. pretty annoying I would think. I just use dots or hyphens to make my own line breaks.

First I would clean the Xbox Console with a gas can, like what they sell at Staples (not sure if the store is present in the United Kingdom), to clear the dust from the fans and circuit boards, possibly stopping it from overheating. Try it when it is cool
again, and make sure it is off and unplugged when doing this step.

if that doesn't help, you should call an Xbox Support Representative at the number it shows for your region

over here and talk to them about if they support consoles like yours, just mention that it has a crystal case. If they do not, I wouldn't bother with the next steps, and I apologize for the inconvenience.

If your console is supported, I would then go to
myservice.xbox.com and register the Console using the serial number which is located in the USB port slot and the back of the console, usually by the DC power input. The site will show if it is still in its warranty period or not.

If it is still in warranty, you can request a repair for free, and print out the free shipping label they give you to mail it in. If it is out of warranty, the prices are below.

Select whatever your crystal most closely represents, and going by your error screen, it looks like the original.

I can not ensure you will get your crystal back, though. I am not sure if they actually repair it or if they send you a refurbished one, so beware.
