Xbox controllers left analog stick moves up when turned left and down when turned right

I recently bought a wired Xbox controller from GameStop. For the first week I had no problems at all, but then I started having this issue where whenever I moved the left analog stick left it moved upwards and downwards when I turned it right. I would appreciate any help as this is ruining my experience, thanks.

I forgot to mention my controller is wired and wasnt made by Xbox, I just need to know how to get it fixed

Well you are on the wrong forum then.

Check youtube for help. Maybe something has help for that type of controller.

I have the same problem with mine. The left stick has a clicking noise when going to the left and holding the analog stick down. That, in turn, makes the bottom right of the stick useless: you cannot move anywhere to the right or down. This occurred after
playing NHL 15 WHERE you push in the analog stick to skate faster. How come these controllers are not built like the 360 ones? Never had a problem with those. Why should I have to pay for a repair or replacement if it is a micro$oft issue? And I used my buddies
controller that was bought 4 days ago and boom same thing happened.

Left stick doesn't move up unless i push down on analog while moving up... whats worst is when controller is untouched the Up direction is continusly push up on menus,games,etc
