Xbox Controllers disconnecting and reconnecting constantly.

My controllers keep disconnecting from my Xbox One S. They don’t turn off, the home button does not blink, I just get a banner across my screen that says my controller is disconnected. It happens constantly.

Things I have tried:

Switching Batteries

Switching from rechargeable to normal batteries

Wired power connection

Switching Controllers and repeating the first 3

Updating Controller Firmware

Updating Console

Power Cycling Controllers

Power Cycling Console

Sitting Closer to Console

Reconnecting Controllers to Console

This just started yesterday and it is keeping me from using my Xbox at all.

is anyone having issues where the controllers are constantly disconnecting from the xbox one and then won't reconnect? We got this same console and the controllers disconnect every few days and to get them to reconnect we have to unplug the xbox for 20
seconds then reconnect it. using the connect buttons on the controller/console does nothing for some reason (no issues like this on the regular xbox one we have). very disappointing.

Thank you for the update. How about turning off 5G mobile data if you have one?

They should be powered over USB, so no batteries/battery pack is required.

Do you have another USB cable you can try?

I'm wondering if there's an issue with your USB cable, so when you thought you were using a controller wired, you were actually still using it wirelessly due to the cable not working. If it is that, then I think it's possibly a faulty Wi-Fi card in the console that's causing your problems, given that you've tried multiple controllers and you have the same issue with all of them.

If you still have the same issues when trying other USB cables, then I'm at a loss for what might be causing it. Likewise if you get a controller to work wired without batteries in it, but it still intermittently disconnects. In those instances, you'd need to get it serviced, either by MS or a third party repair place.

When I plug my controllers in with no battery pack they will not turn on, is this a separate issue?

Hi Shane, I hope you're doing great out there. I am an Independent advisor and I am here to help you in regard to your concern.

Seems like you have performed all the necessary steps. Let's then perform a reset on your console keeping your games and apps. Don't worry because as long as you're connected to Xbox Live your saved progress, games, will not be deleted. It will remove all of your accounts but you can add all of them later on.

Press the Xbox button to open the guide.

Select Profile & system > Settings > System > Console info.

Select Reset console.

Reset and keep my games & apps.

Also, if you have 5G mobile data turned on kindly turn it off while you're beside your console and check if there will be an improvement.
