    Xbox controller won't turn on, won't update


    My controller recently stopped turning on altogether, except for when plugged into the xbox via a micro usb to usb cable. When I plug it in and go to my accessories, I can see that my controller needs a firmware update. However, each time I attempt to download
    the update, I'm told that my batteries are low and that I need to replace them. I've tried replacing the batteries (with new AAs of course), but the issue continues.

    I've tried doing both a power cycle as well as a soft factory reset, neither of which has relieved the problem. What else is there to try besides buying a new controller?

    I have the same exact problem, my controller tried turning on then eventually stopped with new batteries even, plugged in usb cable and it turned on for 30 seconds maybe and turned off, now when I plug controller into usb port, won't do anything, just bought
    controller 2 months ago, paid over $85 and is well taken care of...

    Have you found any solutions to this?? I had the exact same issue. After attempting an update, it failed half way, and froze the system. Now it will not power up at all, and doesnt register on my PC as even being an xbox controller. Tech support was absolutely
    useless, and said it just needs replaced. But I was literally playing on it this morning with no issues until I decided to update the damn thing.

    And my GF just put a new skin on it for my birthday literally last week :-(

    Hi

    Can you try turning the console off then connect the controller to the console with a micro USB cable. Once you have done this turn the console on using the using the button on the front of the console and then wait for about 5-10 minutes without touching
    any button and hopefully the controller update will complete.
