Xbox controller won’t select menus

Hi, guys!! I’m not sure if this is the right place to post this. But, I’m super fed up and I can’t use my xbox at all . I have a wireless controller. When I go to sign in, the LB button is highlighted right away, but I can still move the joystick around
to select characters. I checked the button itself. It’s not physically stuck. I even checked all my buttons, just to make sure. Somehow, I was able to use my joy stick to sign in. When I try to navigate the menus it jumps around really fast and sometimes
it just rubberbands back up and it won’t let me highlight anything to select it. I did a hard boot, unplugged the power cord, checked for software updates, and even firmware updates. I had to use the search feature just to get into those areas. Everything
is all up to date. I even removed my mic and replaced the batteries. My last resort is opening up the controller. But, I really don’t want to do that . Any help you could offer would be great. Thanks!!!

Try performing a hard reset EXACTLY like this. Hold the power button on the console for 8 seconds or until the power shuts down completely.
Unplug the power cord from the back of the console for 5 minutes.
Plug the power cord back in and restart the console.

If that doesn't work try using a different controller to see if the problem persists.

Press and hold the Xbox button on your controller, when the options menu pops select report a problem on the right of the menu to make the Xbox ream aware of your issue.

If you push the View and Menu buttons (Select and Start) on the controller while in a 360 game then the old 360 menu will come up instead of the Xbox One menu. There may be more information there.
