Xbox Controller won't "cursor" won't move.....

So basically the joysticks won't move on the screen... I'm moving it left and the cursor on the screen won't move left. But the thing is, If I hold in the Xbox Button the "turn off console/controller" will pop up. So basically the entire controller is not
working besides the Xbox Button, Kinect works fine as well. And I am also using 2 controllers, both don't work. Yes, the battery is fine.. I just used both of them yesterday and they worked fine, came down to play and they don't work anymore.... Need help
please.....

EDIT: Welp, now it works fine.... I just turned it off and turned it back on and it works.. But still would like to know why it was caused and what should I do if it still doesn't work after turning it off and back on....

The enter button is blank it won't let move the cursor to it on Xbox 1

It's a bug in certain games, Assassinc Creed Unity had something similar when trying to launch AC:Initiates. People would lose movement control of the character a restart would fix this.

If it happens again just restart or powercycle

Do you by chance have a second controller signed in, that is pushing up?

On the main Xbox menus, multiple controllers are "fighting" over the control of the dashboard, and every controller can move the cursor.

When you start a game, each controller is assigned to a specific player, and only that player is controlled. So if a second controller is always pushing up, it won't affect control in a game of the first controller anymore.

I would love to see a chat pad for the XB1 controller and I do think they'll do one however first they need to fix the slight delay when hitting the backspace, space, or moving the cursor around when you're typing a message, try hitting "X" for backspace
and then quickly typing a letter, the backspace won't register till after the new letter does, happens the same with "Y" for space and the bumpers for moving the cursor.

I similar problem. And when I hit home I have some options but the cursor won't move.

I think I solved it by deleting my profile and downloading it again

Normally, the controller can perform basic functions on the desktop like moving the mouse cursor, left and right-clicking, etc. Suddenly all these functions ceased to work and it won't work in any games now either.

That isn't default behaviour. To get the controller to also work in Windows as a mouse you'll need a third party application. Xbox controllers don't function as a desktop mouse by default.

Sounds like something you're using to get the controller to emulate a mouse is misbehaving.

Sounds like the controls are inverted. Hardcore gamers tend to prefer a control where pressing the joystick forward or up makes the character look down and vice versa. To see if this is the problem: 1)Click start, the small button in the right center of
most controllers, 2) Move the cursor to the second option "Help & Options" and press a, the green button on the right, 3) move the cursor to the third option "Controls" and click a on the controller, 4) near the middle of the screen will be a box that can
be checked called "Invert Look". If this is checked, it means moving the cursor down will make the character look up. If it is, move the cursor down one and when "Invert Look" is highlighted hit a on the controller.
