    Xbox Controller wont connect to xbox and only works while plugged in to the xbox.


    Ive had an xbox series s for about 4 years now and 2 years ago the controller it came with stopped working. It was just spamming the A button and not stay powered no matter what. Recently the controller i have been using broke and ive been trying to figure out what is wrong with my series s controller. Ive figured out that when it is plugged into the Xbox it stays powered and the spamming stops but then only the joystick did anything. Using a friends controller i managed to update the series s controller and now the buttons work but once again it wont stay powered and now it wont even connect to the console. Ive replaced batteries and even changed wire i was using to connect the controller to the console but still nothing. The light just flashes a few times before turning off. Occasionally i can get the pair button to work but it just buzzes twice and powers off. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Edit: why is there no product tab for xbox? So i just clicked a random one.

    xbox wont recognize the screen

    Hello, the xbox wont recognize that a screen is plugged in, and that leads to the controller wont connect to the xbox as player one, or any other player. So I cant do the Y + RT thing.

    I've tried, but the controller just wont send any signals to the xbox while that screen is hooked up to the xbox.

    OK strange new development/observation

    it appears if i plug the controller into the xbox via usb, than still the home button doesn't work, HOWEVER if i remove the batteries making the controller dependent on the xbox for power then the HOME BUTTON WORKS IMMEDIATELY! while plugged into the xbox
    with a working home button if i put the batteries back into the controller, without hitting anything, the home button stops working again.

    and remember the controller will turn the xbox on via home button even while not connected by USB...

    what in the world is up with this controller?!

    this can actually be a plug and play lead problem!! try taking the battery out of the controller and headset plug controller into the lead then connect to your xbox! then plug the headset in! then while the controller is still connected to the lead and xbox
    put the battery back in hope this helps
