    Xbox controller won't connect bluetooth


    Hello, I have a brand new Xbox controller that will not connect via bluetooth. I have updated the controller firmware and have checked all Windows and bluetooth drivers to make sure they are updated. The controller shows up when I try to add device but when I select it from the list it says "try connecting your device again". I have run through all troubleshooting protocols I can find and am unable to make it pair. Any ideas? And yes, controller has new batteries. Yes, the controller functions fine when plugged in. Yes, I have reset the controller as well as restarted PC.

    The Xbox One console doesn't support Bluetooth. That headset won't work with the Xbox One in any way.

    The new Xbox One controllers (the ones that come with the Xbox One S) have Bluetooth, but that's only used to connect the controller to a Windows 10 PC through Bluetooth.

    That doesnt make any sense. Why would you design a bluetooth protocol on your own OS that didnt auto connect?
    It should auto connect. My controller does.

    The only time my Xbox One controller won't auto connect is when I've connected it to my gaming PC via USB to charge the battery. After this I have to re-sync the controller. But I only have to do this for the duration of the battery charge. My controller
    auto syncs first time from Windows boot up.

    The issue is that the controller has two wireless protocols. It does not use Bluetooth with the wireless gaming receiver, or when connected to an Xbox console.

    If your controller won't auto connect then there must be something wrong with your Bluetooth hardware on your PC. Have you tried a Bluetooth dongle to test this out?

    The Bluetooth controllers don't come with an adaptor, is has Bluetooth built in. The device it connects to need to have Bluetooth to work, if your PC doesn't then you need to get a Bluetooth adapter for the PC.

    The wireless part of the controller works on a unique frequency only for the xbox controllers, so it won't work with WiFi, so for your PC to use the Xbox Wireless part, you would need the Xbox Wireless Adapter.

    As mentioned, you can usually only connect to a single device at a time using Bluetooth. However the Xbox doesn't have Bluetooth, so you won't be connecting to that via Bluetooth technology, but you won't be able to use it on anything else while connected
    to the Xbox.
