Xbox Controller with Recharge Kit: No battery status on PC (Windows 10) via Bluetooth (or...

I am using my Xbox Controller (Series X) for gaming on my PC.
Inside the controller is the official "Xbox Rechargeable Battery" and I connect the controller via Bluetooth or cable.

Is there any way to check the battery status (i.e. the charge in %) on Windows 10?

If it's plugged in via cable there is not battery status anywhere.

If it's connected via Bluetooth every Xbox Game Bar always show "critical" and the Bluetooth Settings always show 100%.

So I know no way to check the battery status and the controller has no battery indicator on it.

A bit of Googling brought me to the conclusion that it is a bug in the Controller Firmware, but how can this still be an issue?

This exact same issue is discussed in

https://www.reddit.com/r/Windows10/comments/k5aktl/new_xbox_controllerbattery_on_win_10/ but there is no solution to the problem.

I bought the controller because I thought it would work nicely with Windows 10 on PC, but I was a bit disappointed not having any battery indicator.

Please Microsoft, fix this! It's pretty annoying to not know how long the battery will last for and potentially having the controller run out of charge in the middle of playing something.

    :)

If this is intentional it should be mentioned somewhere.

    https://xbox.com/controller-compatibility

just states compatibility on Win 10 via Bluetooth.

The battery status of a wireless controller is an important feature.

Updating the controller via the Xbox Accessoires App did not fix the issue.

I did submit the issue on the Feedback Hub but there I never get any answer.

    Hi TheKablion,

I'm sorry you are having these problems with checking your battery indicator on PC. The connection via Bluetooth only connects the controller, but does not connect other functions the way the controller connects to an Xbox.

You can try downloading the Xbox Accessories app from the Microsoft store and updating the controller through there.

I also recommend if you have issues, to report the feedback when you have it open by pressing Win+F > Fill out the Summarize your feedback and Explain in more detail, Choose a category (I would say Gaming and Xbox along with a secondary subject that best fits the feedback, then continue with the rest.

When you open the Feedback Hub by using Win+F it will take a screenshot of your current page, so you can show more detail.

Filling out a Feedback or reporting a problem may not get a response back, but it will be seen and investigated, provided there is enough information/detail in the report to work or act on.

It's a glitch with the new controlllers that has been present since they released...there is quite a lengthy thread about it on the forum somewhere.

As to fixes, MS/Xbox do seem to take their time with getting fixes out....it took from release until August to resolve the 3rd party Audio Adapter issues out

    Play & Charge Kit

Yes it will. You can connect the controller to your PC via WiFi or Bluetooth and can connect via your plug and charge kit to charge the batteries while you're playing.

But for playing on PC you don't even need the play and charge kit, you can just connect your controller via micro USB cable to your PC even if your batteries are drained as while connected via USB it wont use batteries.
