Xbox controller will turn on but wont turn my xbox one x

Just got a new xbox one x. The controller will turn on and the button on the controller will stay lit up but it wont turn on my xbox. Also when I turn off my xbox my controller will stay on. What can I do to fix this?

Controller not working properly...help

I've had my xbox one for 3 days and now one time i turned my Xbox off but the controller stayed on...i pulled the battery and went to bed. Woke up and now the controller wont start the console...ok so i turned it on by the xbox itself...but now the controller
will act like its connected but wont work...turning the xbox off makes the controller stay on...whats up ? Ive tried to reconnect the controller and it acts as if its connected but it isnt

 

October's update made my console garbage

Same here... When you turn on the xbox one x (didnt check if it happens with xbox one s) from the controller, about 5 seconds after that it looses sync to it and wont re-sync until you shut down the controller and turn it on again, tried it on 3 different
consoles with 6 different controllers, all that happened after the last update

 

I would connect you controllers to the console with a USB cable and verify if they need to be updated. Then Power cycle your console to see if that helps.

 

That is a known issue on the last update. You can try a
factory reset (choose keep all games and apps installed to not lose anything installed) and see if it fixes, but if not you need to wait for the next update.

 

It could not hurt to update the controller either if haven't recently. To do so, go to settings, then kinect and devices, then device and accessories, then the 3 dots at the bottom of the screen, then click the firmware update. Complicated, but a fun journey
through dashboard settings that you can learn and share with any of your friends that have controller issues.

P.S. The above are more likely solutions, but I recommend doing this any time they update the dashboard anyways.... SO...
