Xbox Controller unable to connect to PC suddenly with X light blinking

When I try to connect my Xbox Controller to my PC, the X light is blinking and I am unable to use my controller. (This started happening after an abrupt disconnect while I was using my controller)

To debug I removed my device from known bluetooth devices on my PC and tried to pair it again (yes, I pressed the little black connect button), but my controller does not show up in the list of available devices.

The controller works when plugged in using a cable.

Changing batteries does not change anything.

Can you try pairing it on a DIFFERENT PC to check if it's a Bluetooth problem on your PC or the controller itself?

If the controller pairs on a different PC (or your Android or iOS Smartphone) then the controller is working and you need to check the Bluetooth stack on your PC.

Okay so I got it. You have to connect the MOGA XP5-X to the pc via USB, then hold the Select+Start butons for three seconds, the light will blink a few times and then BOOM- you're in Xinput mode. I can now use the controller to play Xcloud.

Good thought, but this doesn't address the controller not appearing under 'Bluetooth & devices'.

One more detail, when I connect the controller wirelessly to the pc via the Xbox Wireless Adapter. Press the sync button, light blinks rapidly. On PC click 'add xbox controller via wireless adapter. The controller light immediately goes solid, but the PC never indicates it found a device, it just keeps searching indefinitely.

the controller light blinks, the console light does not, but it does not even connect to xbox live, it is as if it were locked.
The console and controllers should be updated
