Xbox controller stuck scrolling

There is an Xbox app for customizing the controller if you download/install it on a PC/laptop you can test out the controller. Connect the controller with a USB cable to the computer, start the software up and you can check out the button functions.
It could be that the bumper is stuck and making it scroll to store.

Check your controller to see if any of the shoulder buttons (triggers and bumpers) are stuck. When pressed they cause scrolling actions to accelerate or skip multiple fields at once.

It makes the selection animation (the box "clicks") but it never access the app. Seems like something disconnected internally/got stuck on internally, leaving different buttons to act as if they are depressed, without being depressed. This is shown when
entering the xbox one guide, which when opened with the controller scrolls endlessly up or down based on whichever way I push the analog stick. If I open the guide with voice via kinect it does not scroll incorrectly like this, only when the control is activated

Just came across the dashboard scrolling to the right problem today. I tried all the shut downs and restarts but nothing helped. For two hours, frustrated. Then it hit me. Everything was working fine until I dropped my controller. I inspected my
controller and found the RB button was pushed down. Stuck when it fell, therefore causing the mystery malfunction. Popped it back out and now it works just like normal. No more scrolling. Hope this helps.

I had the same problem with two controllers. I hadnt dropped anything but after seeing this message and inspecing my controller, found tge RB was stuck down somehow. Popped it out and all is well! Thanks!

this worked thanks you. Both of my controllers had the RB stuck in, thanks for the advice i was sending the lot back cause it was driving me mad HAHA
