Xbox controller stuck on player 2/3/4 Win10

The Xbox One controllers do not show which one is player 1 or 2 or 3 or 4 etc... the Kinect will automatically assign a player to a controller based on who it sees (in the case that two players are signed in or there is one as a guest).

I never faced that problem. Diconnect the wired controllers first. Now if you want the wired ones to be Player 3 and Player 4, just the the 2 wireless ones first so that they are assigned Player 1 and Player 2. So the next controllers you connect will have
to be Player3 and Player 4. This way you can adjust the Player number you want to each controller. Hope this helps

Thank you for replying. The controller is always detected. Yes, Win10 is updated and it keeps the drivers updated.

The issue is that after opening a game, the controller moves from Player 1 to Player 2. I cannot move it back to Player 1 without a reboot. It has ruined the gaming experience.

I suspect some of the issue is with the xbox gamebar software.

You can do the following:

Mute another player on Xbox Live

To mute another player on Xbox Live:

1. Press the Guide button on your controller.

2. Press Y on your controller to go to the Xbox Dashboard.

3. Select Friends, and then go to the Players tab. Select the player’s Gamertag.

4. Select Mute.

Block communications from another player on Xbox Live

To block communications from another player on Xbox Live:

1. Press the Guide button on your controller.

2. Press Y on your controller to go to the Xbox Dashboard.

3. From the Dashboard, open a message from the player whose communications you want to block.

4. Select Block Communications.

The player will not be able to send you any message, unless you first send a message to that player.

Avoid another player on Xbox Live

To avoid a specific player on Xbox Live:

1. Press the Guide button on your controller.

2. Select Friends, and then go to the Players tab.

3. Select the player’s Gamertag.

4. Select Submit Player Review.

5. Select Avoid This Player.

6. Select why you want to avoid the player: Communication, Game Behavior, or Player Skill.

7. Select the specific reason why you want to avoid the player.

Usually it is in order of gamepad connection or the way they join your lobby.

My advice is to remember the order you turned on the controllers and the order you logged those Guest profiles on the console

Controller 1 is Player 1, so he should be the first to join the lobby.

Controller 2 is Player 2, so he should be the second to join the lobby.

Controller 3 is Player 3, so he should be Third to join the lobby.

Usually, Split Screen games associate the top left corner to Player 1.

The Top-right to Player 2. The Bottom Left to Player 3, and the bottom right to Player 4.

Some games choose a bigger screen for player one when playing with 3 players on the same screen.

So it will be.

Player 1 on the bigger screen.

Player 2 on the bottom left.

Player 3 on the bottom right.
