    Xbox controller stops working in between


    Hello everyone, I am using a wired Xbox controller for my windows computer... Suddenly my controller stops working in between...the X light freezes, I mean only one led glows while playing, but it hangs and all the 4 LEDs glow... I am new to this, can
    anyone tell me what's the issue ??

    Yes, exactly. This has happens with my system, in different games and with different controllers.

    Oh and I did a hard shutdown/restart and it does not fix it. Microsoft you have some major problems that you need to fix with this over priced piece of *** console.

    Xbox controller stops working in between

    Three possibilities come to mind:

    • The controller is defective
    • The USB port does not supply enough power to the controller or has some other issue.
    • The cable connector (the piece that comes apart about 30cm from the usb end) is loose.
    For case # 2:

    • Try connecting the controller to a USB power on the back of your PC (ie. one attached to the motherboard)
    • Try on another PC to narrow this down
    For case # 3:

    • Pull apart and reconnect the dongle. Might be worth blowing it out with a can of compressed air in case some dust is in there.
    Obvious if there is any cable damage then that would be another issue, but I am not aware of any driver issue that can cause the problems you are seeing

    Hi AfraidCone10431,

    This is frustrating. It has happened to myself a few times over a few consoles. First step is seeing if there is an update for the controllers.

    Hi

    If the controller does not turn on when you connect it I would first suggest you try using an alternate USB cable and if possible also try connecting it to an Xbox One console to see if the same thing still occurs.
