Xbox controller stopped being recognized

I'm running windows 10

My xbox one controller was working fine and even showed up in devices as an xbox one controller. I did an update/restart on my computer and once that was done, a few hours later I shut everything down and replaced some fans in the case.

I started the computer back up and plugged in the controller and its now showing up only as 'controller' in devices but in device manager it still shows up as an 'xbox one controller'. Once I started up Forza horizon from the xbox app it states that my controller
is an unknown device. I've done the swapping of usb ports, usb cables, uninstalling device and restarting to reinstall it, other xbox 1/360 controllers, pretty much any 'solution' i could find on google and on these message boards. They work fine on my laptop
and my sons computer but not anymore on my desktop. My astro cr40 controller is recognized and properly shown under devices and device manager. Would you know how I could get this xbox controller to be properly recognized and work as an xbox controller?

Ive tried that already, even manually deleting the drivers. Fresh install didnt seem to work. Maybe it was one of the windows updates? You would figure there would be no problem with an xbox controller to work properly on windows over a 3rd party controller
that has no issues.

Ok, so it was my razer tartarus v2 that was causing the controller to not be recognized properly.

i would suggest remove the XBox one controller driver from your pc making it as if its a new device being introduced to your computer

This in my mind seems to be related to the issue with the second controller stops being recognized as both these problems present themselves at the same time and the solution is the same

No luck. Ive tried everything. I don't know if the hardware and drivers are partially compatible with my controller, and that's why it works but it stops being recognized as soon as it shuts itself off or there is something malfunctioning.

The only why to use the controller now is to manually shut it off everytime I stop using it, which is a mild inconvinience.
