Xbox Controller stays on but does not work

This has been happening for two days now. I have an Xbox One slim and the controller that came with it. I have to take my battery pack out every ten seconds to make my controller work. I have changed batteries and controllers, and both do not change anything. I have updated my controller and I do not know what to do anymore. I have also power cycled both my controller and Xbox multiple times. It started yesterday morning while playing Halo Infinite. Any help would be appreciated.

First, welcome to the Xbox community. Unfortunately, I'm afraid it's a hardware issue, given the issue you reported. Anyway, I suggest you try the solutions provided in the article below, see if they can help you.

I also suggest that you try the solutions below, and see if anything changes, please.

Solution 1:

Press the Xbox button to open the guide.

Select Profile & system > Settings > Account > Remove accounts.

Select the account that you want to remove, and then select Remove to confirm.

After removing the account follow the procedure below.

Step 1. Press and hold the Xbox button on the console for at least 10 seconds to open the Power center.

Step 2. Then unplug the power supply from your console and wait for 3 minutes.

Step 3. Plug the power supply back into the Xbox console.

Step 4. Press the Xbox button on the console to turn it on again.

Now add your account again.

Solution 2:

Press the Xbox button.

Open Settings.

Go to Network and select Network settings.

Select Advanced settings.

Select Alternate MAC Address.

Select Clear.

Select Restart.

- If the problem persists, I'm afraid it's a hardware problem as I said, which would need to send the control in for repair or a replacement, if your control is still under warranty you can be doing this by following the instructions in the article below.

I replaced te batteries on both controllers. They work fine, so I am afraid my xbox is dying. They also seems to stay connected (light on controller stays on), but just does not respond any more. Gonna try tonight if the cable would work again but that did
not work the last time as well.
