xbox controller reset button mapping

I remapped my controller to the left stick click being left bumper and the left bumper being left stick click and i map it back to default but the buttons are still that way even though i clicked restore to default or whatever that option was. on
that screen it says it’s default but when i go to the button testing screen it says that they’re still the way i remapped them last weekend. i want to make the buttons default again but it won’t work

Did you try a hard reset once you confirmed everything was back to default? Might be the way forward, if not then try hooking up your controller via USB to the PC and see if you cant reset it there? Just a few things off the top of my head that come to
mind.

Go to settings, controls and reset to default. It's because none of your controls are mapped to buttons.

Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
Under Profile & system, select Settings.
Under Devices & connections, select Accessories.
On the Xbox Wireless Controller screen, select Configure.
Carefully review the current mapping for each of the buttons on your controller. You can also select Restore to default to set the controller back to its original button mapping.

Use a different controller to access the Xbox Accessories app again, and then map the A and B buttons to the controller again, or reset the controller to the default layout again.

Have you already tried to connect your controller using a USB cable to see if your buttons will work correctly?

If you can navigate through your console using a USB cable, try to reset your controller mapping.

Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
Under Profile & system, select Settings.
Under Devices & connections, select Accessories.
On the Xbox Wireless Controller screen, select Configure.
Carefully review the current mapping for each of the buttons on your controller. You can also select Restore to default to set the controller back to its original button mapping.

Be sure to also check for controller updates.
