Xbox controller possible issues

I have recently got the xbox series x everything was working fine till a day or to ago ive been useing an xbox elite series 2 controller thought it was a drift in the stick since on home screen i can barley scriol down but have to hold down and even then
it only scrolls one spot i can go down anouther if i hit the d-pad down ive tried hard reset multiple times controller is up to date and so is the system so i opened the box for the xbox series x got the new controller from there still haveing the same issue
but ive nver toched the controller till today

Also when playing a game like the witcher or final fantasy character stays still not movement till i move the stick even cod or battlefield i have to move stick for there to be movement

I understand, in this case please try when possible use another controller (you can ask a friend's Xbox one wireless controller momentarily when possible for this purpose)

If it doesn't connect to the adapter, now you know is an issue with the adapter

If it connects, this means the controller itself has an internal issue

Hypothetical, if a wired controller fixed the issue then it is not a problem with xbox at all it is interference in your home causing the issue. As your controller is wireless and the issue isolated to few it is very possible that interference is still your
issue.

My xbox does not do said problem. So it is not necessarily an issue with the xbox itself.

It could be possible that your Xbox controller may need an update. This is a common issue when the controller needs to be updated.
