    xbox controller not registering on my laptop


    I have a windows 11 laptop and it is not letting me connect my controller. Usually all I would have to do is plug in the USB and it will come up on my laptop saying its ready, but now nothing happens and it just flashes at me. I've looked at device manager and made sure all the drivers were up to date and yet still nothing. It is not a problem with the usb output as it reads and accepts things such as my phone and other devices, its just with the controller. Any help would be appreciated!

    Hello Jack, at least did the test, my suggestion is to make sure that the control is still under warranty to send it to Microsoft, if it is out of warranty the ideal is to seek some technical assistance of your trust.

    Hello again, before assuming it might be something o the controller, try connecting it to some other PC if possible with Windows 10 to see if the same thing happens.

    Just plugged it into another windows laptop and it doesn’t register on there either, so the problem isn’t just my laptop I guess.

    Hello Jack, , have you checked if you have the latest version of Windows installed, at 21H2, because recently came out the latest update to Windows 10 and 11.

    Usually these updates come as "Optional" in the updates part, you've also tested with another USB cable to see if it works, another alternative is, if you have an

    Xbox One, connect the controller on Xbox to see if it's recognized and update its firmware.

    hi, thanks for replying. I checked and i have the most updated version of windows installed, as well as the firmware of the controller being up to date as well. Still my laptop does not recognise the controller being plugged in.
