Xbox controller not connecting to Chromebook via USB

I seem to have this problem where whenever I connect my Xbox controller(via USB) to my Chromebook, it only seems connect with specific USB cables while the others, it keeps making my controller flash and not connecting. This wasn't an issue until I lost that specific one that worked. My controller is the the original Xbox Wireless Controller so it doesn't have Bluetooth and I use USB.

Any ideas on how I can pair my Xbox controller to my Chromebook?

Since your controller doesn't have Bluetooth capability, we have two options to connect it to your computer. It's either using a USB cable or wireless adapter for Xbox wireless controller.

Our best option here is to try another USB cable that supports high quality data transfer or connection for both devices being connected.

For wireless adapter, since you got a Chromebook, you will have to find any compatible adapter for Xbox controller on your Chromebook.

I am not certain if it will work on ChromeOS since it's designed for Windows OS.

For USB cables, just make sure to check the label that it's good or fast for data transfer.

Thanks for the update, got it. Are you able to use a different web browser, like Edge or Firefox? or are you using a Chromebook?

And, the controller is connected wired or via bluetooth?

I'm attempting to do that now by connecting the controller directly to the xbox using a USB cord but it continues to say that no controller is connected via USB. Very frustrating
