Xbox controller keeps disconnecting from windows 10

In the past year I have bought two xbox controllers and both seem to work alright on xbox but when it comes to windows 10 they suck. It's not anything to do with the build quality or anything like that it's more to do with the connection. Both xbox controllers on windows 10 seem to disconnect all the time, at the start it was a bit annoying but I still played with them but after a few weeks the controllers started to disconnect all the time making playing games unplayable.

I use a wired controller.

I'm thinking it has something to do with usb slots however I've uninstalled and reinstalled them and I've updated them and nothing seems to work. My controller is up to date.

Please can someone help me with this, I don't want to spend £60 on a controller again for the same issue to keep happening.

So I have found a solution to this problem. I think there is something wrong with the drivers that is causing this issue. I fixed it by adding the game to Steam as a non-Steam game. Now, I just need to launch the game through there and everything works fine.

I have tried all of the steps in the first link, but the issue still persists. I am unable to find the section in the Xbox Accessories app that allows me to revert the firmware. Clicking the "Check your controller's firmware" button just sends me to the homepage of the app. How should I fix this?

Do other accessories work fine in those USB slots?

How old is the computer? What motherboard do you have? Just wondering if maybe you need an update as motherboards do get firmware updates form time to time
