Xbox controller is very sluggish or unresponsive

Last night my xbox was working fine this morning I booted up and my contoller will not work I've tried two diffrent controllers and xbox app. I tried power cycling and unplugging everything (ethernet cable, headset, powercord, hdmi) and plugging it in
one by one and I found out that when I plug my harddrive in (Seagate 3TB) it causes the contoller to be unresponsive. I wish to game with my harddrive it has most my games on it. Is there a way to fix this?

Also plug the controller into the console with a USB cable to verify it doesn't need a firmware update.

Defiantly an interesting problem. It might be a problem with the speed in which the data read via the USB causing increased latency. Have your tried a different cable? I also suggest installing the games you play most directly to the Xbox as read speeds
are usually faster when installed internally.

Are they wireless or wired controllers? Are the controllers updated? I don't know, maybe try plugging the hard drive in first. I've never heard of this problem before.

Try performing a hard reset EXACTLY like this. Hold the power button on the console for 8 seconds or until the power shuts down completely.
Unplug the power cord from the back of the console for 5 minutes.
Plug the power cord back in and restart the console.

I've given up with GWG on the 360. I know i'll never play them. Games look ugly on the 360 and feels sooo slow now. The dashboard looks almost blurred compared to the sharp, clean look of the One.

I think the worst thing about the 360 now, for me, is the controller! It feels sluggish and unresponsive compared to the Xbox One controller. Never thought i'd say that about the 360!
