Xbox controller is being recognized as a mouse when playing Horizon 4

We understand that you are trying to use your Xbox Controller while playing Forza Horizon 4. However, the game recognizes the controller as a mouse. Let us check on this together and sort this out in timely manner.

There is a controller setting on the Steam that you may want to disable when you try to play games not installed on Steam Store. Kindly go to Big Picture Mode and select Controller Settings and untick the Xbox Configuration Support. That way your controller will be able to work seamlessly on other games installed outside Steam. Just tick the said box if you were going to play a Steam version of game using your Xbox controller.

In order to keep an equal and fair multiplayer experience, you can only play with controllers on the Xbox One.

Games that work on the PC as well (like for example Gears of War 4) can be played with keyboard and mouse, but you can only play cooperative multiplayer with console owners that have to use controllers, so mouse and keyboard users don't have an advantage.

These XIM4 or Mayflash devices aren't real mouse and keyboard devices. These devices show themselves as a standard controller to the console, and when you move the mouse, the adaptor "guesses" from the speed you move the mouse, how hard it should push a
simulated controller stick in a certain direction.

These adaptors won't give you the same control as the mouse on a real PC.

When you stream the Xbox game screen to your PC, you can also only use a Xbox controller. Mouse and Keyboard won't work as a game input (you can only use the keyboard to enter text when the virtual keyboard is shown).

There are plans to get Keyboard and mouse working, if there ever is a way to stream the PC screen to the Xbox console.

But currently, if you're playing on the Xbox console, it's controller only (even if the controller is "guesstimated" with mouse and keyboard inputs).

this issue started when playing forza horizon 4 , fresh installed game , but im using a xbox 360 controller to play the game USB

Keyboard/mouse players will not be matched with controller players & vice versa unless they choose too when keyboard/mouse support is released.

No one is being favoured or given any type of advantage.

Chances are the majority of console players won't even use keyboard/mouse to play games when it becomes available anyway.

The controller is fine with other games on my pc. Only when playing forza horizon 4 this issue happens
