Xbox controller inputs without it being connected

Please try to use another controller and see if it makes any difference because it is possible that this is already an issue with the controller. If the issue still persist, I would already recommend doing a system restore to see if this helps.

Turn off your PC

Start your PC, just as Windows attempts to load (spinning dots), press and hold Power Button on the casing of your PC for 5 - 10 seconds to perform a Hard Shut Down

Do this twice

On the third start Windows will boot into the Recovery Environment and from there you can access System Repair, Safe Mode, Command Prompt . . . etc.

Please try each option one at a time, then see of Windows will boot . . .

Go to Troubleshoot - Advanced Option - Startup Repair

See if Windows startup can repair itself

Go to Troubleshoot - Advanced Option - System Restore

Check to see if you have a restore point you can go back to

If you do not have a Restore Point, go to Troubleshoot - Advanced Option - Startup Settings and click Restart

Upon restart, press 4 to enter Safe Mode

Once in Safe Mode, backup your data if you do not already have a backup

Open Device Manager and check to make sure all your Drivers are up to date

Reboot to see if Windows will start Normally

If the above fails, go to Troubleshoot - Advanced Options - Reset this PC

Choose to keep your files and apps, just your files or to keep nothing

Then start the Reset

Follow these steps to update the driver via Device Manager.

1) On your keyboard, press the Win+R (Windows key and R key) at the same time to invoke the run box.

2) Type devmgmt.msc and press Enter on your keyboard. This is to open Device Manager.

3) Expand Microsoft Xbox One Controller. Right-click on it and click Update Driver Software.

4) Select Search automatically for updated driver software. Then Windows will install the new driver.

If the issue persists, follow steps below to update the driver again:

1) In Device Manager, right-click on Microsoft Xbox One Controller and click Update Driver Software.

2) Click Browse my computer for driver software.

3) Click Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer.

4) Select Microsoft Xbox One Controller then click Next button.

If this will not work, I would suggest trying to connect another controller and test it out to see if that works properly or not.

Make sure to restart your PC as well to refresh it.

Is it possible to connect my Xbox to my PC as an extension? If so, would it then be possible to wirelessly give her access to controlling the computer inputs so that we could play local co-op without it being local?

The old Xbox One controller only featured an expansion port, newer controllers including the elite controller also feature a 3.5mm input where you can connect 3.5mm cables into.

So if your headset just requires a 3.5mm input then you can connect it without the stereo adapter if you have a newer model of the Xbox One controllers
