Discus and support XBOX Controller headsets assigne to broken controller in XBoX on Consoles to solve the problem; hi there this problem is beyond me.     XBOX Controller headsets assigne to broken controller


    hi there

    this problem is beyond me.

    My son has a wireless controller and a wired controller. The headset was plugged into the wired controller but the connector inside this controller broke withe headset plugged in. When we plug the headset into the wireless controller it does not recognise
    it. The headset is still assigned to the wired controller. There must be a way to fix this so please help.

    Headsets no audio in...Yes, audio out. Tested. Ideas??

    Do a hard reset.

    Make sure you assign the controller to the user.

    Test it in another xbox, if its still an issue its broken.

    The only thing that I can suggest is performing a hard reset EXACTLY like this. Hold the power button on the console for 8 seconds or until the power shuts down completely. Unplug the power cord from the back of the console for 5 minutes. Plug the
    power cord back in and restart the console.

    Are you sure it wasn't the headset that broke?

    I'm sorry to hear that happened.

    I would also suggest for you to try a different headset if possible on your wireless controller just to make sure that the controller itself has no issues detecting any headsets.

    If issues persist take a look at this:

    HI the headset works fine, tried another one, did the hard reset and still the same issue. The wireless controller will not detect the headset it remains assingned to the broken wired controller

    if you have tried all the steps this trouble shooting page:

    And all has failed you will either need to set up a repair/replacement order or contact Xbox Support like mentioned on that troubleshooting page.

    When contacting Xbox Support use either the Phone option or the Microsoft Support Chat option on

    When registering a repair it will also show if the controller is within warranty or not, when within warranty the repair/replacement will usually be free of charge.​ Xbox Accessories tend to run on a 90-day warranty.

    Check settings. Volume turned up on xBox and headset? Is headset being assigned to your account?

    Try connecting headset to controller first, and then powering on the controller. Ensure the controller is assigned to your profile
