Xbox Controller Firmware update - Windows does not properly recognise controller anymore

Hi, I have an odd problem with my Xbox One S controller after a Firmware update on a friends Xbox Series S console. On the console the controller still works perfectly. On my computer with Windows 10 it is now being recognised as some standard controller. Buttons do not match correctly, the triggers do not work at all. In-game the controller is not even recognised at all.

Is there a way to install a driver so that Windows supports the controller again or can the firmware be downgraded so that the controller works as it used to?

I would be happy about any clue how to solve this problem.

I already tried the One S controller of a friend which works perfectly on my system and also tried mine on his system with the same issues....

Example of how the controller is being detected by Windows. Usually it should say something like Xbox 360 if I remember correctly.

Hello I would like to know if the new update of Xbox series x | s controllers has solved the problems concerning non detection on xbox accessories apps on Windows 10, because I do not have a console for downgrade of the frimware controller, thanks alot

I actually found another solution without downgrading the controller via your link. Summary below:

this worked for me Update driver fix

"You just need to "force" changing the driver in the Windows Device Manager from the generic "compatible game controller with HID" (or something like that - I'm currently using Windows in PT-BR) to "Wireless Xbox One Controller" (after forcing the driver change, you can find it under the Microsoft device list)."

You can rollback the controller update. To do that Connect your controller to my console via USB and follow the steps outlined below.

I think for me it did detect it in the app. Not sure if there are various apps though.

hi, thanks for replying. I checked and i have the most updated version of windows installed, as well as the firmware of the controller being up to date as well. Still my laptop does not recognise the controller being plugged in.
