Xbox Controller Firmware Update Completely Messed Up Connecting To My PC.

Its as the subject states, Was going on to my Xbox after not touching for a long time to have a look at what's new there, and I get a prompt asking to update the controller firmware, I though nothing of it and let it do its thing, following the instructions of not pressing or moving the controller. Next thing I Know is Forza Horizon 5 Launches for game pass and I'm eager to play it on pc, the controller doesn't work, its connected to the pc and pairing is already done through Bluetooth, but not response, I press a button its pops up with "reconnect your controller", I plug it in with a USB it works as normal but it seems something messed up the connection with Bluetooth in the controller that doesn't allow my pc to use it properly, but its gets weirder, Steam games such as Assetto Corsa, Rocket League and so on can use my controller without any problems but its Seems Neither Game Bar can open or work when pressing the Xbox button, or games in the game pass such as FH4 and FH5 Wont work with my controller.

I'm sorry you are having issues with your controller on PC. Please try reverting the firmware on your controller to the previous FW by following these steps on your Xbox console.

To do this, Navigate to My Games and Apps, > Apps > Xbox Assist > Articles > Console & Accessories > "My controller has connection issue after the last update" > Check controller firmware > Revert Firmware

Afterwards, try connecting it to your PC again and let me know if your issue is resolved.

I can get up to this screen where it says "Check Controller Firmware" - but when I hit this button, it goes to the Accessories app and gives me an error that says "Something went wrong - Your controller is already up to date". I really need to downgrade the firmware so this will continue to work with my other devices... any ideas?

I literally have the exact issues as you after updating my controller tonight. It was an update from November so I figured I should do it and now my controller is completely messed up. I bought a usb-c to usb wire to hard connect to console so I can try to revert back to the previous firmware. This is complete bs and Microsoft is doing nothing to fix it.

My windows is up to date, however I cannot update the firmware of my controller as previously stated. When I go to xbox accessories on my PC and try to update my controller for the few seconds that it stays connected it says applying update but sits at 0% forever. And when you connect via bluetooth you cannot update said controller since I am on PC.

Yup, the newest update just knocked my controller out with same exact stuff... and its only 3 months old.... this last update got me angry because now I got a very expensive paper weight.... both system and controller...

Very unhappy they need to fix this.... because taking out batteries is worthless and helps only for a half a nano second....
