XBox Controller Elite Series 2. A Button, gamebar and other problems.

Yo!
First of all, excuse my English.

2 weeks ago I bought an Elite 2 (One of the "new" with the green mark on the box). € 110, yay! Thanks, Microsoft store Netherlands.

But I immediately run into the problems with the bluetoth: Pressing "A" and / or another button and see how a menu appears (The X Box game bar, Steam screenshot, the Windows volume control...).

Finally, after looking at many posts on reddit and the Microsoft website, I have found a solution (A mixture of many) that has worked for me so far.
(About 30 hours in Forza Horizon 5, Yakuza 5 and Tekken 7).

Considerations:

First: The controller has version 4.7.1872.0, the version in which PC users are stuck (Thanks, XBox Accesories App).
Second: The remote is connected by bluetooth. A normal bluetooth usb for € 14, version 5.0.
Third: Yes, XBox Accesories App is installed on my Windows 10 with all the last updates and drivers.

Now seriously.

The steps are very simple.

First, go to your PC settings and disable the XBox Game Bar.
(I also have game mode disabled, I don't know if that influences.)

Then go to the XBox Accessories App. Open it and connect the controller by USB cable.

Go to Profiles, make sure it has the Default Profile set.
You can remove or put key assignments to the rear triggers (All 4 that can be removed).
I have removed all the assignments because I thought I could use them as independent buttons. You can not. **** Microsoft?)

Now close that damn XBox app, disconnect the cable from the controller and leave it plugged into the case, which is where it belongs.
Add the controller to PC bluetooth again, sigh.

(If you charge the controller in the charging base and NOT by cable, it does not disconnect from bluetooth and you don't have to add it every time)

Open Steam. Oh yeah, Steam.
I suppose that in other game APPs it may be similar, but in my case it was Steam.

Go to controller settings.
(You know. Steam, Parameters, Controller. A new window opens in which there is a section, "XBox Controller Settings")

Exterminate any keybinding. You are going to see some that will make you say "Oh you, mussel abortion", like:
- Button A takes a screenshot
- Button A + Left Stick control the sound
Etc.

They must be ruthlessly eliminated.
(In fact, I removed all the keyboard shortcuts, keybindings and stuff, leaving the gamepad as it should be: A controller that can be configured in every game without executing external functions.)

That's it. The end of the nightmare. No more screenshots, no more gamebar.
Only happiness remains
(And worry because the A button fails sometines. Oh come on, really?)

I sincerely hope that your problems are solved like mine and we can enjoy a gamepad that costs 180 damn euros / dollars, as I do.

Hi,

I try to connect my Xbox Elite wireless controller series 2 via bluetooth on my Ipad Pro 11 inch 2018, but it can't make connection or won't be recognized. The series 2 controller supports bluetooth. I can make connection with the other older version Xbox
One S wireless controller immediately.

I'd make a phone call with Apple support and they said that maybe the problem could be that the Xbox Elite controller series 2 won't be supported and isn't compatible with Ipad.

I want to know guys if you had the same problem and I want to ask if there will be an update in the future to solve this problem?

At the moment the series 2 elite controller is not compatible with Iphones/Ipads. At the moment the only device that the series 2 controller is available on IOS side is the Mac and even that it's janky. Series 2 controller works fine on Android at the moment.
Sorry if this doesn't help you, I myself is waiting for the Bluetooth proprietary to be added to the IOS list

Now, this advance Controller offers exclusive option to create profile to customize button mapping that you can do using Xbox Accessories app. Here are steps on how to create a controller profile:

Using your Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2, open the Xbox Accessories app.
Scroll to the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2, then select Configure.
Select New profile, give your profile a name, then configure your changes. For example, if you reassign D-pad down  on the face of the controller to the Y button , then the D-pad down  will act as the Y button  going forward.
When you’re done, press the B button  for the changes to take effect.

Create multiple profiles in the app and switch between them using the built-in Profile button.

Open the Xbox Accessories app, scroll to the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2, then select Configure.
In Profiles, select a controller profile you’ve created or create a new one.
Choose a slot.

You can assign a slot for up to three profiles. Press the Profile button on the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller 2 to switch between them. When no bars appear lit below the Profile button, the controller is using the default button mapping.

Assign Shift key button:

Assign buttons to act as shortcuts for system actions like “Record that” and “Take screenshot.” When you select a button to remap, choose Primary or Shift, go to the Action tab, then choose an action from the list. When you’re done, press the B button  for the changes to take effect.

Note System actions are currently not available on Windows 10.

Microsoft knew the controllers were defective and still sold them as a good product. they wont do anything to fix your controller because its most like out of warranty thats why the warranty was so short. The whole elite series 2 was a scam
