Xbox Controller doesn't connect/stay on when connecting to Xbox

I just got an Xbox S, and currently have an original Xbox One. After hooking up the S, and syncing my Xbox controller to it, I played a game on it. Then I tried to turn on my Xbox One that I was just using earlier that day, (with that same controller) and cannot sync/connect the controller to it, and the controller keeps turning off when I do. I have 3 Xbox controllers in total, all of which worked fine on the original Xbox, yet now none of them would sync to, or stay on when trying to connect to the Xbox which they all were connected to and worked fine with up to this point. I have used direct connections with the USB wire, I've tried wirelessly, (all battery packs are charged), I even tried with brand new Duracell batteries, and cannot get any controller to connect or even stay on to use my Xbox One which was just working fine with them earlier. I have excellent Internet connection, and all my controllers and Xboxs are updated. I've even turned off the S and unplugged it to reconnect controllers to my other Xbox and it didn't work.

(My goal is to have 2 ppl playing the same game in the same room with 2 Xboxs going at once, but I can't connect any controller to my old Xbox now....so frustrating).

Can someone please explain what on earth is going on. Thank you!!

That's odd... Can you double check if the firmware for each Xbox controller is in the latest version available?

For this connect the controller via cable to the console > open the accessories app and check

If everything is up to date, try the opposite. Downgrade the firmware

Not sure if this is relevant, but my Xbox also sometimes doesn't connect wirelessly to my controllers and I have to hard reset. Occasionally if I connect via cord, it gets done and I can detach the cord and it stays connected. But more often than not, even
after getting positive feedback from the controller on a wired connection, the Xbox still won't recognize the equipment and refuses to connect. Repairing obviously doesn't work here either.

If the Xbox is using the same tech to connect to the wifi and the controllers, could this also be a problem?

The button doesnt click. I used this cord to connect my controller before but now my controllers broken so i had to try my sisters. When i connect that controller it does turn on but stays connected to her xbox.

My name is Ezequiel. I'm an Independent Consultant. Have you tried to see if any updates for your controller? If the controller connects via a USB cable but doesn't stay connected when the cable is removed, reconnect it and see if a controller update is available:
Press the Xbox  button to open the dashboard.
Under Profile & System, select Settings.
Under Devices and Connections, select Accessories.
On the Xbox Wireless Controller screen, select “…” to check your controller's firmware version.
If it says no update is available, then your controller is up to date. If it shows "Update", follow the steps provided.
After the controller is updated, disconnect the USB cable and try to connect wirelessly again.
