Xbox Controller Disconnecting Even Though It's Plugged In

Hello Xylo2009, is this happening on the PC or console when it refers to disconnections, the control to and keeps flashing, or does it just no longer emit signal?

I ask this because it may be something on the USB cable, or even on your device's USB port.

I've found a resolution for my problem. If I plug my controller into my USB switch the controller doesn't disconnect, even though the other inputs do disconnect randomly! When I swap the inputs to my PC everything works perfectly and the Xbox controller continues to work on the Xbox (weirdly).

Yep, same problem, seems to be completely random. Tried it with two controllers, still the same. Took it back to the store and they tested it - fine!

Got it home, plugged it in (having reset to factory settings) controller dropped out several times as I was setting the Xbox up - so not even connected to the WiFi.

Tried it with controllers plugged in, with the house WiFi switched off, just kept doing it.

Then this afternoon - perfect! But nothing has changed in the house.

What I did notice though is that whenever the controllers dropped out, invariably it disconnected from the wifi as well.

Something else I have discovered, when the controller drops out and just flashes, the sync button on the side of the x box doesn't do anything. Then give it a few minutes after pressing the button and the XBOX logo flashes once and all comes back to life,
temporarily.

Have Microsoft admitted there is an issue with the WiFi cards in the X box one, it seems to me that even if the controller is plugged in, the WiFi card can randomly disconnect it

I have 2 controllers, both disconnect repeatedly.

They don't show any sign of disconnecting when the error pops up. The light is still on. I've had to remove and replace the battery then turn the controller back on for the console to recognize it's there again. Even when I have the battery out entirely and plug the controller into the side USB port it still disconnects repeatedly.

I tried plugging the controller into one of the rear USB ports last night, and it stopped disconnecting for the remainder of my session, though this could also have been due to my frustrated restart of the console. The problem is intermittent.

I'll try resetting the console as per your instructions this weekend, and will follow up if the problem persists. Fingers crossed!

I'm having the same problem using the chat headset that came with it. I was playing Advanced Warfare and the controller disconnected. Would not turn back on even with new batteries. Finally disconnected headset and it came on. Tried plugging in via usb.
Works without headset. As soon as I plug the headset the controller turns off and will not turn back on. Have tried resetting xbox one, unplugging it and updated the firmware in the controller. None of it fixed the problem.
