Xbox Controller Connection Issue

Every since there was a thunderstorm and my controller that was connected to the Xbox electrocuted me I haven't been able to connect it to the Xbox it just blinks for a few seconds and goes off. I've tried syncing it, hard reset, and I even bought new batteries
and cable but it's still not connecting. I also tried it with another controller I own it's the same problem with that also I'm just stuck on this screen showing a Xbox and a controller.


I've talked to several ppl on Xbox support but still no solution it all comes down to a repair costing $159 plus tax which is ridiculous to me I mean might as well buy a new console if you're asking for that price to fix an issue that has been known about
since launch from what I've heard. Is there any solution to this problem or am I just screwed?

X and controller sync

I've had issues with computer/laptop/phone/etc. when trying to resync controllers after using them elsewhere, but never with Xbox. I've mostly had issues connecting my 8bitdo controller to things.

I've mostly just kept my Gears of War 4 controller synced to the X, but I went back and forth with one that came with it, and never had any problems, even had all my Xbox controllers connected for Fusion Frenzy.

Based on what you've told us (the same issue happens on multiple games and multiple consoles), we need to start looking for the common factors. My first instinct is to think that the issue lies with the controllers (and it very well might). However, the issue
might also lie with the play and charge kit, since that was also a common factor.

Were these controllers connected to the console via the play and charge kit when you were performing these tests?

If you can, try these controllers out without having the play and charge kit connected. Also, try some completely different controllers (like a friend or family member's controllers) on your console without any play and charge kits connected.
