Xbox controller connected but not responding?

I’ve just randomly had this issue, my controller was low batteries so I changed the batteries for it (using Amazon batteries from the same pack as the ones I just had in) and then my controller suddenly stopped responding? I was playing a game and it says “press a on the controller you want to use” and when I press a, it doesn’t work, neither does anything else, holding the Xbox button on the controller to bring up power options doesn’t even do anything yet my controller still claims to be connected to the Xbox. I’ve tried reconnecting the controller to the Xbox but when I hold down the reconnector button, it does a different pattern than a normal controller with instead of it consistently flashing, just occasionally briefly flashing and making a quite high pitched noise when trying to connect.

I’ve tried using a different controller and it works fine, and I can do everything normally. I’ve also tried restarting the Xbox one, and putting the controller through power cycles but it doesn’t work.

It connects to my iPad and works perfectly fine, but not on the xbox.

Anyone know what I could do??

Connect the controller to a PC via USB cable and verify that it is up to date in the "Xbox Accessories" app. Once you verify that it is up to date try to perform a cache clear with the following steps.

1. Press and hold the Power button on the front of your Xbox until the console turns off.

2. Unplug the power cord from the back of your Xbox.

3. Wait a minute, and then plug the power cord back in.

4. Press the Power button on your Xbox to turn it back on.

5. Your cache should be clear at this point.

Try to link both devices again by pressing the pairing buttons of both devices at the same time.

You should try using the controller on a different device, as a mobile phone, then try to link it to the console again

You should also do this

Turn off the Xbox console by pressing the Xbox button on the front of the console for about 10 seconds until it shuts down completely.

Unplug the console's power cable. Wait 10 seconds.

Plug the console power cable back in.

Press the Xbox button on your console to turn on the Xbox

If nothing works follow these steps to request the service:

Sign in to the Device service and repair page with your Microsoft account credentials.

****If your device doesn't appear, add it

Select the device that you want repaired.

Follow the onscreen steps to complete your service order request.

Yes, I have another controller but its old & doesn't have a lot of working parts still.

I apologize but if this is happening with multiple consoles this may mean that the issue is with the controller itself and you may have performed all the necessary steps.

One last test, do you have a different controller that you can try to use?
