Xbox controller button problems - Elite Series 2 and Standard

I picked up the Xbox Series X after being an PS4 owner for the last 4 years and have been disappointed to find a number of problems with the controller that I didn't experience with the PS4. I'm wondering if the community is continuing to raise some flags about this issue and if Microsoft will be addressing the concerns?

The first was was the incredibly loud D pad on the standard controller. The pitch of the clicking has definitely irritated both me and my girlfriend. Another was an issue with the A button to seemingly not register button presses.

I was impressed with the reviews of the Elite series 2 controller and thought I would give that a try and see if i had a better experience. The controller feels great and the D bad is much better, but the face buttons are horrible. The game often doesn't register my button taps when the button clicks. I've tested in the devices app and have become pretty good at replicating the type of press that it takes for the app and games to not register a button press. The be clear there is a button click, but no registering.

Before anyone things I've got a faulty controller just know that I've replaced it 4 times and this has happened with all of them in the exact same way. In talking with Microsoft they offer to do a warranty repair and do a replacement but obviously thats not going to fix the problem because its a design flaw.

I know that some people think this is just poor luck and they've had no problems but everyone presses the face buttons differently, I use the base of my thumb which often hits the side of the button. This will make the button click and in my 30 years of gaming the button registers this way. Not so with these controllers.

Let me know if others are still having this issue too and if anyone has heard of a fix on the horizon. Where I'm sitting now I'm going to either have to sell the console or see if the scuff controllers do the trick.

Hi Jesse thanks for getting back. Thats a really funny solution. I take it thats a piece of paper you have wedged between the button and controller base? I appreciate the non conventional fix but unfortunately that didn't work for me. I wouldn't really want to play games long term that way either. Particularly given the expense of the elite controller. Thank you though!

my standard Xbox one S white controller is still going strong after a good year so far. i also have a standard sky blue Xbox one controller which still going strong. there were some elite series 2 controllers which had a manufacturing problem but Xbox are
replacing those in warranty if they have the problem. overall the elite series 2 is a good controller.

if you purchase from a third party source i would recommend getting cover with it so if anything goes wrong you can replace it for free.

The controller what i use is the elite series 2 perfect main controller. Before it was the series 1 and i wil never playing with a standard controller anymore. 🙂
