    XBOX controller battery issue


    Hi,

    My XBOX 360 controller has recently been playing up and not switching on. Changing the batteries makes no difference. If I apply a small amount of pressure to the back of the battery case, the control comes on, and if I remove that pressure it switches off.
    I have tried my other controllers battery case in the faulty controller, and makes no difference. I am wondering if there is something I can do to fix it, or if buying a rechargeable battery pack would help?

    This behavior can occur if one or more of the following conditions are true:

    . The battery has reached the charge limit.

    . There may be an issue with the charge cable.

    . There may be an issue with the battery.

    Things to try:

    1. Determine the part of the recharging system that may be causing the issue.

    Controller

    Try AA batteries or try a different Xbox 360 Rechargeable Battery Pack in the Xbox 360 Wireless Controller to verify that there is nothing wrong with the controller. If the controller works with different batteries, the controller is not causing the issue.

    Charge cable

    Try a different Xbox 360 Play and Charge cable to charge the battery. If the battery charges correctly with a different charge cable, the original charge cable is faulty.

    Rechargeable battery

    a. Use a cotton swab and some alcohol to clean the four gold contacts on the Xbox 360 Rechargeable Battery Pack and on the Xbox 360 Wireless Controller.

    b. Try a different Xbox 360 Rechargeable Battery Pack with the charge cable. If the second battery charges correctly, the original battery is faulty.

    Regarding your first question you should check your NAT settings and make sure they are open

    Regarding the controller problem this occurs when:

    . The battery has reached the charge limit.

    . There may be an issue with the charge cable.

    . There may be an issue with the battery.

    XBOX controller battery issue

    Actually, no problems anymore. Found a youtube video about inserting a small piece of cardboard into the divet in the battery case. There is some piece of plastic on the xbox controller that digs into this divet in the battery pack. Must need to depress
    the metal strip in the case to form a circuit for the batteries to power the controller, but for whatever reason it wasn't depressing properly, and so the cardboard just gave it that extra bit of pressure. Hope this helps someone else with the problem.

    Have you tried the controller with the xbox and the new batteries? That would confirm where the issue lies...whether it's a battery/controller thing or a PC connection issue.

    Having said that, it's still very strange that it works with old batteries but won't work with new batteries...that implies there's an issue with the new batteries

    Just to confirm:

    - Controller worked fine without issue with the original batteries. It synced fine and played fine

    - New batteries put in and it won't sync, let alone be able to be used

    - Put old batteries back in and the controller works but the sync button doesn't

    That correct? Another question: What are the original batteries and what are the new ones?
