xbox control of AV receiver stopped working

I have had my xbox one setup for about a year to turn on the TV and receiver when it turns on and control both of them while it is on (volume and such). Today i tried to have it turn the volume up and down and it didnt work. I tried all troubleshooting methods
and was on a chat with a customer service person and nothing worked. The CS person said to post here so I hope someone can help me. The xbox sill controls the TV just fine just not the receiver. the receiver is a pioneer vsx 1023 k. please help.

    :)

  2. Can not control volume on both TV and AV Receiver at the same time

My Xbox was originally setup to operate just the TV. The volume up/down/mute commands worked. Then I added (from device settings) my AV receiver, the volume up/down/mute commands worked on it however the commands stopped working on my TV.

I reran setup for both TV and AV Receiver. During the setup the test commands worked on both devices. But my issue was not resolved.

I then removed (from device settings) the AV receiver and the TV volume commands started working.

Thus it appears my Xbox is unable to control the volume on both devices at the same time. I am able to repeat the steps above and get the same result.

  3. Setup with AV Receiver

So currently I have an AV Receiver in my Home Theater setup. Will that work with X1?

Right now Xbox 360, BluRay and DirectTv plug into AV Receiver via HDMI and 1 HDMI cable runs behind wall to TV.

With X1 I expect to have setup as follows:

X1 and Xbox 360 plug into AV Receiver.

    DirecTv box plugs into X1.

Dont need Blu-Ray any longer so will move to another TV.

Will this work? Will X1 be able to control the AV Receiver and TV? When I say "Xbox, On" will it turn on the X1, TV and AV Receiver? When I say "Xbox, Raise Volume" will the X1 raise the volume on the AV Receiver?

Xbox One S is changing the TV port

There is a setting for selecting source on the xbox. Under start up behaviour and also control AV/TV that can cause this.

I had it when I set the xbox to be able to control the TV with the xbox remote/IR thing.

I just turned off the auto switch to TV setting, and the ability to control AV equipment and it stopped happening.

Xbox One **** off projector after ~15min. Anyone have a solution?

When projector is connected to other sources it does not turn off. I believe I found a solution. In the video setting on the AV receiver (Denon AVR-S540BT), I changed the “HDMI control” from Off to On. This enabled the “Pow. Off Control” option which I set to Off.

So far this has worked. My theory is the Xbox was sending a power off signal through the HDMI, so this setting should block AV receiver from processing the signal.

Question about upcoming Xbox one remote

The official news post about the remote *only* says that Kinect is used for IR blasting your TV and your AV receiver. It doesn't say that Kinect is used to receive the remote's signals for controlling the console itself.

Given that, and given that the console does have its own IR receiver, I'd assume that control of the console itself is direct using the remote. Kinect is just needed for TV/AV control, as the remote does not send signals to those directly.

Remote > IR > Console = console control.

    Remote > IR > Console---Kinect > IR > TV & AV = TV & AV control

HDMI pass-through when Xbox One is OFF

@RCBlackBelt24: this is a good idea. It won't work with my current setup because my AV receiver can't do component-to-hdmi switching. It only does HDMI to HDMI.

Maybe it's a good excuse to upgrade my AV receiver :) Or maybe I can get an HDMI splitter that's remote controlled.

@JamBa JamBaLaya: glad it's working for you now. For me, i'm using a universal remote control (Logitech Harmony) so I have it configured to switch channels directly using the set top box.
