    For a long time, coming up to 2 years my xbox has constantly had problems, it’s very hard to explain so stick with me. Every so often for no clear reason when i try to open any app or game, i get the message “For some reason ____ took too long to start” and gives me the options close or go to help, and occasionally a different variant of the message says restart the xbox. At first i could restart the xbox and all would be resolved, but over time it become more and more frequent this would happen multiple times a week at some points , so i kept restarting. Something i noticed, i’m not sure when, is every time it happened when the xbox loaded again, there was an app update, always an xbox related app, sometimes “avatar” sometimes something called “Microsoft Xbox Purchase Host” and a whole other range of apps. As this issue got more frequent and i was restarting more and more, it got to the point where restarting did not work, after some research with xbox forums i found i had to reset my xbox, but i could keep my games and apps when doing so, i was reluctant to do this as it’s very time consuming, so i kept trying to restart for a while but eventually this was causing more problems, sometimes i would restart and get the message “SignIn took too long to start” or even “Home took too long to start” so i realised my only option was to reset, but when i tried to do this, sometimes i would get the message “Settings took too long to start” so it wasn’t even possible to resolve, i just had to shut down my xbox and hope for the best so i did the reset. This worked for a week or so but the problem came back, and the same issue happened again and again more and more frequent until it was so unbearable to reset my xbox every few days that i called xbox support, i was on the phone for many hours with the extremely helpful guy but we didn’t get anywhere, i explained i had tried everything except a full reset and wipe of my xbox and he said you should just try that, i didn’t do this at first because it’s a lot of effort to install all games and apps, but after a few more weeks the problem remained so i did the full reset which again worked for a week or so until it came back, this was a while ago and i still have the same issue, it’s completely random when it happens, and sometimes when i get given the prompt to go to “Help” it even says “Help took too long to start” even now after becoming almost used to resetting i still just restart rather than reset because it occasionally works, however sometimes when doing this, nothing loads and get this error message where the only options are Shut down xbox, restart, or advanced settings where i can do a manual update or reset the xbox, this menu can only be controlled via the D-Pad and i have occasionally had to activate this menu manually when not even the home screen will load by doing something with the sync button on the xbox, i can’t remember exactly, i understand the timeline of these events may be hard to follow as it’s been happening for so long i can’t fully recall either. I have tried resetting cache by holding down xbox button and unplugging for 3 mins, nothing works. At the time of writing this i have had this issue nonstop for the last 2 days and had to reset twice. So my question is, What. Do. I. Do?

    This looks like an issue with device hard drive and the console will need to be repaired. Since it isn't under warranty anymore I'll suggest you take it to a local departmental store so their repair department can fix it for you and you can take it home the same day.

    neither, Xbox constantly has down time, tons of problems with live matchmaking as well as notification problems as well as having as bad of customer service as Comcast. My largest recommendation would be to purchase a Playstation 4 and save yourself a
    ton of time, energy, and headaches.

    I myself will be selling my Xbox after this final month of live runs out for me. I am appalled at the lack of concern Microsoft has with all of the problems that seem to constantly plague Xbox and Xbox Live.

    HI after a couple of months i am still having the same problems. It defo not a isp problem has engineer has been out to test all my equipment. It is only my xbox that disconnects constantly all the time. it seems to be fine when playing multiplayer, but
    disconnects when on single player games, or wacthing a dvd on xbox. It gets annoying when disconnects constantly when talking to my friends. It will even disconnect when i try downloading games or updates, any help would be grateful as i am now getting tired
