    My main question is: Why does my Xbox work fine for a couple days, then none of my games/apps start and my xbox lags?

    So I've had this Xbox One for what's soon to be about 7 years, it's the special Advanced Warfare console that i got for pre-order in 2014. This console has unfortunately given me some trouble before with network problems and sign-in problems in the past, but
    that was probably because of the "Insider Program" stuff i had on my xbox.

    Anyway, currently, I'm having issues that have been happening very rarely, but now have become extremely often.

    One day, i might be playing games and using apps normally. No problems whatsoever besides normal Xbox Live Status issues, whatever.

    Last year, my xbox has started to have an issue where 1 app in particular will not load and give me the error that says "game took too long to start." When this error shows up, my Xbox itself seems to start lagging. The guide goes extremely slow and might freeze
    on screen unless i press the guide button again to close it, OR loading other games will cause them to also get this error or freeze while loading. This issue also causes my Xbox to be unable to shutdown or restart itself properly, and the only way it can
    be is by Hard Reset or Unplugging the console.

    This year, starting in October, i started getting this issue again, mainly when i tried to use the app called VRV. When i tried to open the app, it would say "took to long to start," it would make my xbox lag, and i would have to Hard Reset. I tried to uninstall
    the app that i thought was causing the problem, but for some reason my xbox would refuse to uninstall the app, which ALSO caused my xbox to lag, and i had to Hard Reset.

    To attempt in fixing this, I factory reset my console, reinstalled all the games/apps i had installed before, and everything seemed normal again. Unfortunately, it did not last, because maybe the next day or 2 days later, VRV started giving me the Error again,
    and i immediately factory reset yet again. The 2nd time i factory reset, i reinstalled everything EXCEPT for VRV, and again everything seemed fine until the next day or 2 where my games started to have In-game problems that caused my xbox to lag and need to
    be hard reset.

    I have now factory reset for a 4th time after having done an "offline update" to try to fix the problem, so i'm hoping this time it'll stop having problems, but who knows.

    TLDR: My games won't start and my xbox needs to be Factory Reset every time

    I've searched for, and tried, quite a few remedies to my problem:

    - Hard Reset

    - Factory Reset

    - Clearing Cache

    - Checking Network problems

    - Changing certain preferences

    - Using USB to do Offline Update

    none of these things have worked so far

    I am very sorry to know you are having such conveniences. Please do not worry about the situation because I am here to help you out!

    According to the explanation you have provided, I believe your console might need either a network reset or just a system refresh. Therefore, you will only need to follow those simple troubleshooting steps that I will provide you with and your issue should be fixed.

    The following troubleshooting step will help you clear out your MAC address:

    Settings > Network Settings > Advanced Settings > Alternate Mac Address > Clear it and the console should restart. It would definitely help if you could restart the internet router while the console is restarting.

    Another step that you can try to resolve the issue, would be to remove and re-add your account. In order to do that please go to: settings> account> remove accounts> remove your account.

    You could also try this troubleshooting step to clear any corrupted data from your device:

    1- Go to settings on your Xbox

    2- Select system

    3-Select storage

    4- Clear local saved games and your console will automatically restart

    Note: When doing this step please make sure that you always play online so that all your data is saved to the cloud

    If the issue still persists after going through the troubleshooting steps mentioned, I invite you to perform a quick power cycle by turning off the console and then unplugging all the cables. After 10-15 seconds plug all your cables back in and then restart your console.

    In case the issue still persists, the next step would be to perform a reset on the console. To do so you will need to follow the steps below to perform a reset on the Xbox :

    Settings > System > Console Info > Reset This Xbox > Reset and Keep my Games and Apps.

    Note =>The "Reset and Keep my Games and Apps" option will not cause losing your games, but please be aware that you need to be completely aware of the email address as well as the password of your account before going for it because it will require you to sign in to the account.

    So that we can narrow this down, are you able to disconnect your Xbox One from Xbox Live and try starting a game while offline? As you mentioned your console is downloading updates without issue, but I'm curious to see if your connection is affecting your ability
    to play games.

    **** pathetic system and support by Microsoft I'm ready to switch back to ps4. I should have never sold my ps4. I've had to do this **** system factory reset 8 times in the last week!!!!!!!
