Xbox Console doesn't accept Microsoft Account Email and Password.

the only way this happens is if you have changed your email or you are using the wrong email address.

Thanks to Outlook's convoluted and confusing menus, I was sent on a wild goose chase. I thought the code for the password would work, but no.

Ultimately, the grand solution laid out in the link didn't work either - the instructions plainly state "On your Xbox 360 console, sign in to Xbox Live using your Microsoft account email address and the app password you generated in step 3 instead of your
Microsoft account password." It doesn't work because the password box only accepts a max of 16 characters, while the recovery code is 25 characters (not including spaces).

He needs to go to account.live.com, and pick "Can't access my account" then it'll ask for his Microsoft Account, which is the email he used for the console. If it's an older account back then you could enter in the email incorrect (i.e .net & .nt, or comcast.com
instead of comcast.net) so whatever it's showing on the console it's what he needs to reset. If the account was set up as a child account then he's also going to need the parental email & password (and reset if he doesn't know it) to accept the Terms of Use.

Step 1 ) Sign in to xbox.com by using your Microsoft account information. You'll be prompted to accept the Terms of Use.

Step 2 ) Click I Accept. You'll then be redirected to a Microsoft
account sign-in page.

At the Microsoft account sign-in page, enter the parent Microsoft account email address and password and click Sign in.
