xbox console companion streaming not working

whenever I try to stream my Xbox to the console companion app, it just darkens my screen and doesn't actually show the Xbox, its extremely frustrating as I've done the fixes that have been recommended (updating pc/Xbox, uninstalling and reinstalling, etc.)and nothing has worked, how do I fix this?

I've been having this problem too. I start the stream through companion app and nothing happens on my computer screen. The controller hooked to my computer controls the Xbox but I have no picure. I have an older model Xbox not a new one. Any help?

Which Xbox do you have? I ask this because the old console companion does not work with streaming from the new Series X/S consoles.

Captures work fine when not streaming. The problem is down to how the game bar and xbox console companion app work together . The game bar doesn't know what game I am streaming

I don't have any options to stream in the new Xbox app. Had to reinstall the old Xbox Console Companion app to get it to work.

You need to stream your console to your laptop (Has to have Windows 10) with The Xbox Console Companion app. Start the Xbox One, then start the Console companion app, then select the connect icon on the left side of the app, and your console should show,
just select it, and select stream, that will then stream your console to your laptop.
