xbox console companion gamertag issue

xbox console companion is not letting me choose a gamertag even though I've tried a lot of random which I'm sure no one has taken and including gibberish ones too and there are no options for choosing a relevant one either where it suggests one if the
one inputted was taken and suggestion for gamertag are not available and not showing up completely. all it shows is an error for gamertag already taken. can anyone kindly help me with this issue, Thank you in adva

Xbox Gamertags are now limited to 12 characters max. Heres a link to current gamertag rules.

If this isnt the issue, certain Xbox services are limited to reduce the impact of high traffic due to current events.

Sorry to hear it. I would recommend opening the Xbox Console Companion on your PC and ensure that you're signed in as the proper account. If you are not then please sign out then delete the beta app. Sign your gamertag into the console companion then
redownload the beta app. This should solve the issue.

Since your new gamertag is showing on all apps and websites and not only on the companion app, it is probably just a cache issue.

Try to reset the companion app:

- Go to Start > Settings > Apps > Apps & features > Xbox console companion > Advanced options > Reset.

Restart your computer and sign in to it again to see if the old gamertag still shows on it.
