Xbox Connections Issues with Controller and Wifi

Hello Forum,

I need some help. My Xbox One has developed an issue where it disconnects and reconnects to my network at random and often aggravating intervals. This issue has now extended to my controller, which will disconnect from my Xbox and randomly reconnect.

At first my issues were minor; it would happen once every three or four days for about five minutes. Now, the problem has become worse and I cannot stay connected for more than two or three minutes. Sometimes it disconnects as many as ten times a minute.
That sounds like hyperbole, but I am serious.I timed it.

This problem persists even if every other device in my house is disconnected from our wireless network. I've power cycled my router and reset my Xbox more times than I can count and the issues remains.

Does anyone have an idea of what may be causing this?

Thoughts/Suggestions - Internet Connection Requirement

I'm connected with wifi already every time I play so its not an issue here. Xbox Live is up 99% of the time so ano issues here.

usually that's a router issue , especially if you use a "Gateway" from your isp.....list your equipment (brand and model #'s ) and we will see......controller may be a separate issue....

Is this an Xbox One controller, or an Xbox 360 controller? If it's an Xbox One controller, are you connecting wirelessly to the PC via Bluetooth, or with the Xbox Wireless Adapter?

If you plug the controller in via wire, does the controller still have issues?

Are you in an area with lots of wifi signals (for example, an apartment block)? If that's the case, it could be harder to find a solution, but it's possible that you might be having wifi interference issues. The controller connects to the wireless adaptor
using wifi signals and not Bluetooth, so it's sometimes susceptible to wifi interference. I had this issue with my Xbox One, I solved it by going into my wireless router's settings and changing the channel at which it broadcasts. I had to try a bunch of different
channels until I found one which seemed to significantly reduce the disconnections.

Hopefully that might work for you too.

the controller uses bluetooth for other devices but the xbox console does not have bluetooth, it uses a proprietory wifi for connecting to controllers. this is different to general wifi too.

if you have an external hdd plugged in, then unplug and try again, some external devices draw more power which cause issues as the wifi module is on the same bus as usb.

So recently my Xbox wasn’t connecting to the internet at all. The servers weren’t shut down, the Xbox would just not connect to the wifi. The Xbox gave me a notification that it had to do with a problem with the connection of the controller. The
controller would have to be restarted and connect to the wifi. It restarted the controller but it wouldn’t connect to the Xbox. I tried syncing the controller like when I first got it, I tried other controllers, and I even tried using a cable to connect the
controller to the Xbox, yet it still won’t connect.

Other controllers works?

All controller don't connect/work? Or only one? (maybe your preferred controller)
