Xbox connecting up from different household

Are you both trying to access XBOX Live from the same household using the same internet connection / routers?

try connecting your xbox to the internet through your mobile phone or a hotspot of some kind as a test and see if it works, if so then its an issue with your internet connection, or try it from a different location ie a friends house etc....

also try restarting your internet router, do you have more than one xbox one console in your household?

Hi, just to let you know it is against the terms and conditions to share digital games with your friend from a different household. This can get you banned from xbox live for doing it.

What you can do is try setting the the first system as the home Xbox on the second system. You can find a guide

here on how to do this. You can also add his account to the second system and set up any parental restrictions that haven't already been added to the account.

What do you mean you don't have a modem? A modem is required in order to be able to connect to the internet, a router is what you use to distribute your internet connection (which is received from the modem) to multiple devices in your household (wired and
wireless). Unless you have a modem and router combination which would be a different story.
