Xbox companion app on windows 10 gamertag.

So I changed my gamertag earlier today for two reasons. I wanted to see if I could remove one number, and I still had my first free change available. Before my gamertag change, my gamertag was 13 letters. After the change, I was able to remove the one
number making it only 12 letters, not counting the suffix it adds. Before I changed my gamertag, I had no suffix with extra numbers, and now I want to change back to my old gamertag (Which I know is available considering I just changed from it) but its 13
letters and wont allow me to change it. I know I'd have to pay for a name change but is there any way I can just revert to my old gamertag that was 13 letters when it only allows my to type 12 in the change gamertag section?

try the xbox companion app instead, not the xbox app but the older companion app, its already installed on windows 10 or if windows 11 can be downloaded from the store, usually works fine that way.

The max amount of characters in a name is 12 now including suffixes.

Solved. Windows 11 uses xbox app. I used xbox companion under windows 10

they are stopping the xbox companion from streaming they have already stopped it in the companion app and moved it fully to xbox app on pc and i suspect windows 10 version too.

Which app are you talking about. If it's Xbox or the Xbox companion app on Windows 10, just right click the icon of the app, and select uninstall (only works on latest version of Windows 10)
