Xbox Companion App Changed?

Hey guys, so a few months ago I'm pretty sure the xbox app for Windows 10 was just called the xbox app, and now they've changed something and it's called the xbox companion app. Coincidentally, now, whenever I try to stream my xbox from my PC, I now need
to input my Xbox's IP address and it says "we are not able to find an Xbox One console with the IP address you provided".

So what gives? Months ago my PC would instantly detect if my Xbox was nearby and would connect to it through "Stream" with the click of a button.

Did they do an update or something that screwed it up again? I don't know.

I've tried everything though. I've tried restarting my xbox (hard reset), restarting my PC, resetting the xbox companion app, changing my xbox name, clearing the alternate mac, setting my date and time to automatic, making sure the date and time was synced,
making sure "Allow game streaming to other devices" is on, entering the IP, subnet, gateway (any information at all and nothing worked), signing in and our of the Xbox Companion App, Everything.

Is there something I'm missing?

I'm apologize for the agitation, but this worked perfectly months ago, so whatever they updated makes me annoyed that they did. My Xbox is sitting right beside me, I don't know what's so hard about connecting to it. They are both on the same wifi connection.
