Trying to update my billing to a new credit card. Went through the steps to cancel auto subscription so I could delete my old out-dated cards. Tried redoing auto subscription with the new card and got an error. Got an email (after cancelling auto subscription)
which said my Gold membership was expiring... provided a link to continue it. Went to it, chose my new card, and it gave me this error. This seems like the most frustrating bill pay system I've ever come across. Completely stupid. And the fact that Microsoft
wants to provide an "error code" which makes no sense to me instead of just telling me in plain English what the problem is, is an added insult. I just want to renew my Gold with a new card. Shouldn't be that complicated.

Yeah I'm getting the same message when I tried entering a prepaid code for an Xbox Live gold 12 month subscription.

Is there any update to this?

There can be reasons that would cause the need to wait until your current membership has expired. One of those is if the card that was used on your current membership was removed. Hold out until your membership has expired and give it another go!
