    Xbox.com does not recognize my MS Account as a payment option


    The Xbox website does not show my MS Account balance as a usable payment option. Even when I'm trying to download something free... I can use it on my Xbox no problem, just not on the website. Any ideas?

    How to Manage your Xbox LIVE payment options

    Overview

    You can choose to use more than one payment method for your Xbox LIVE account. The payment options include credit cards and PayPal accounts. You can use these payment options to buy items from Xbox LIVE Marketplace.

    The 2-year Xbox LIVE Gold Contract uses only credit cards as the payment option. The other payment options like Debit Cards, Prepaid cards and PayPal are not valid for this subscription. However, you can change your payment to another credit card.

    If it is before the end of the two years and there is no credit card associated with your account, it is assumed you have terminated the subscription, and you will be charged an Early Termination Fee and any applicable taxes.

    It is easy to edit your payment options on your console or at Xbox.com

    Steps to Follow

    Add or change a payment option using your console

    1) Use your Xbox LIVE gamertag to Sign in.

    2) Proceed to Settings and then select Account.

    3) Select Manage Payment Options, and then choose either of the following:
    • If you want to add a new credit card, select Add Credit Card.
    • If you want to use your PayPal account on Xbox LIVE, select Add PayPal. You will be required to enter your PayPal username and password. Follow the instructions to add PayPal as a payment option. You cannot use PayPal as a payment option for the 2 year Xbox LIVE Gold Contract. PayPal is not available in all regions.
    4) After making changes to payment options, select Update Payment Option.

    Add or Change a payment option on Xbox.com

    1) Go to My Account.

    2) Select Payments and Billings and click on Manage Payment Options.

    3) You may be required to Sign in using your Microsoft account (email and password).

    4) Proceed to do either of the following:

    If you want to edit a payment option, select Edit.

    If you want to add a payment option, you can do either of the following:
    • Click on Add New Credit Card and enter the credit card information
    • Click on PAY with PayPal and follow the instructions.

    Problem solved. If I try it on the Xbox, I can select my MS Account as a payment option. Just on xbox.com it doesn't work.

    This is a well known issue. There is no way to buy Xbox 360 content from this website using your the currency on your account.

    I think it's really stupid, personally.

    The One/xbox.com don't recognize your Microsoft account balance as a valid payment option for 360 content. In order to use the currency on your account, you would have to make the purchase from a 360 console.

    The 360 store is set up differently from the store on the One/xbox.com. It is only possible to purchase 360 content using currency from your account via a 360 console. The One/xbox.com does not recognize your Microsoft account balance as a valid payment
    option for 360 content. I've never seen an actual reason why except that that system has just never been updated to work with the currency system.
